Care and Cleaning
Please be aware that over the course of time, discoloration may occur with silver or gold plated jewellery. This is due to general wear and tear and the acidity of your skin. When you are not wearing your jewellery, it should be stored in a box, or wrapped in tissue paper to maintain its polished look and avoid tarnishing.
Silver, gold and rose gold plated jewellery
To care for your jewellery please avoid coming into contact with water, perfume, lotions, hairsprays and detergents as this may cause your jewellery to tarnish. Most of our jewellery is costume jewellery and is therefore not designed to be worn constantly. Please do not sleep or shower with your jewellery. To keep your jewellery looking its best, polish using a soft cloth or gently buff.
When washing your hands with soap and water or using hand sanitisers, we recommend taking any rings of beforehand to help maintain the longevity of your jewellery and ensuring your hands are completely dry before putting it back on.
Sterling Silver (925) jewellery
Sterling Silver is a precious metal that will naturally tarnish over time. This darkening of the metal is not related to its quality, it is a natural reaction of the metal to the oxygen in the air that can be removed by cleaning your jewellery. To slow down the tarnishing, we recommend that your jewellery is stored in a container (ideally a lined box or soft pouch) and away from direct sunlight. To remove the tarnished layer we suggest that you polish your jewellery with a soft cloth periodically.
Gold and Rose Gold Plated (18K) jewellery
All of our charms and chains are made from high quality 18 Karat gold plate. Gold plate may tarnish over time but the darkening of the metal is not related to its quality. It is a natural reaction of the metal to the oxygen in the air that can be removed by cleaning your jewellery. We recommend you to treat your jewellery with utmost care and attention. We advise you to remove your jewellery before going to bed, showering, doing housework or swimming and keep it in a jewellery box; avoid direct exposure to some chemicals (solvent, hair spray, perfumes) and high temperatures. We suggest that you polish your jewellery with a soft cloth periodically.
